FES Principal Dr. Schlueter facilitated the session to discuss the alignment of the school's actions to the District Action Plan (DAP) and the Region Action Plan (RAP) during the CSI Day on September 12, 2025.

Hello Hedgehog Families,

The Continuous School Improvement (CSI) Professional Learning Day during the afternoon of Friday, September 12th was very productive. Our staff members attended substantive sessions to help increase student achievement. We reviewed our School Action Plan (SAP) to ensure our actions are aligned with the goals of the District Action Plan (DAP) and the Region Action Plan (RAP). Our two SMART objectives are Math and Literacy. We are using success criteria, differentiated instruction, and content-specific vocabulary to achieve our objectives in Math. We are using daily practice of readable writing, differentiated instruction, and success criteria to achieve our goals in Literacy. Thank you to our session facilitators Ms. Tomassi and Ms. Pierce for Math, Ms. Fox-Blake for Literacy, and the team of Ms. Siftar, Ms. Kaemingk, and Ms. Vice for differentiated instruction.

All 1st, 3rd, and 5th-grade students will be taking the vision and hearing screening starting today, September 15th until September 29th. Our school nurse, Ms. Low, will be administering the screening in the nurse’s office. Please contact her at holly.low@dodea.edu if you have any questions.

All 2nd-grade students will be taking the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) screener on Thursday, October 2nd. The CogAT screener assesses verbal, quantitative, and nonverbal reasoning skills. This is to establish a wider pool of students who might qualify for higher levels of service and find indicators of exceptionality in all groups of students. See more information on our DoDEA website Test Descriptions | DoDEA. The screener will be administered by our Advanced Academic Programs and Services (AAPS) teacher, Ms. Guignon.

Parents are invited to join the DoDEA administrators for the 2nd Cup of Coffee Meeting on Wednesday, September 17th, 9:00 AM on the 2nd floor of the RAF Lakenheath Chapel. This regular event is hosted by the School Liaison Office.

We’d like to share a wonderful opportunity for our future hedgehogs! Our partners at the Educational and Developmental Intervention Services (EDIS) will be offering a base-wide developmental screening for children up to age 3 on Wednesday, October 15th. This is a great opportunity for families that have questions about their children’s development to connect with a team of caring professionals. Whether it’s speech, motor skills, or general milestone, they are here to help. See the flyer in the gallery section.
