For fourth-grade students at Feltwell Elementary School, the classroom recently expanded far beyond school walls, stretching into the historic streets and innovative learning spaces of Norwich, England. Students from Ms. Cassandra Guerin’s and Ms. Diane Seufert’s classes participated in a field trip designed to connect their host nation’s rich history with modern science and technology.

Feltwell Elementary School is embracing the digital age in a way that honors tradition while preparing students for the future. This month, student teacher Mrs. Chesna Wilson, completing her placement in both fourth and first grade, partnered with mentor teacher Mrs. Cassandra Guerin and kindergarten teacher Mrs. Jolene DuBose to design a cross-grade literacy experience that blended writing, technology and leadership through the use of artificial intelligence.

On Nov. 19, 2025, Feltwell Elementary School partnered with the RAF Lakenheath Immunization Clinic to host a convenient flu vaccination event for the RAF Feltwell community. The clinic was organized by school nurse Holly Low and registrar Ashlyn Potenzone, working closely with MSgt. Anthony Potenzone and Immunization Clinic Flight Chief Demirhan Atalay of the 48th Medical Group at RAF Lakenheath.

This autumn, a simple brown seed sparked a unique STEM project at Feltwell Elementary School. What started as curious hands bringing in handfuls of conkers—the seeds of the local Horse Chestnut tree—developed into a fascinating, student-led project.

Ramstein Elementary School welcomed 120 prekindergarten students this week as part of the second year of DoDEA Europe’s phased rollout of prekindergarten. With eight classes, Ramstein now hosts the largest prekindergarten program in DoDEA Europe.

As you are aware, there is still a great deal of uncertainty about the federal budget for Fiscal Year 2024. The current appropriations provided by Congress will expire on September 30, 2023, at 11:59 p.m. (EST). Without enactment of an appropriations bill or a continuing resolution, all Federal agencies, including DoDEA, will be required to execute contingency plans for a lapse in appropriations (commonly referred to as a 'shutdown') beginning Sunday, October 1, 2023.
