Principal's Corner
Dear Feltwell Hedgehogs Families,
We are on our final stretch of the school year 2025-2026! As you look back at every exciting moment and success of this school year, know that every single one of you contributed to make Feltwell Elementary School a busy hub of learning and progress.
Thank you for giving your best effort each day. This year, we continued our progress on our Math and English Language Arts summative assessment scores. Our goals were to increase the percentage of students at the Meets/Exceeds performance levels and decrease the percentage at the Did Not Meet/Partially Met performance levels in both content areas. To support our literacy goals, we used daily practice of readable writing, differentiated instruction, and success criteria to strengthen students' written expression. For math, we focused on content-specific vocabulary, differentiated instruction, and success criteria to improve modeling, application, and expressing math reasoning. As a result, we met all of our math and literacy goals.
Our students demonstrated a strong sense of balance—knowing when it was time to focus and work hard, and when it was time to have fun and think of others. We offered a wide variety of academic and athletic after-school clubs that kept students engaged beyond the school day. The National Elementary Honor Society (NEHS) and Student Council modeled civic-minded leadership through events such as a dinner for families with deployed parents, Spirit Week, and Reading Buddies. Robotics Club made school history when one of our teams became the DoDEA Europe Elementary and Middle School FIRST LEGO League champion, outperforming 242 teams across Europe. The Feltwell Literary Society celebrated Poetry Month and hosted a visit from a British author. Mission Math Elites followed the historic Artemis II mission during its journey around the moon. Running Club members built speed and stamina, while the Comic Book Club showcased creativity through storytelling and art. The Hedgehog Singers delighted the school and community with their performances. The Podcast Club members developed media presentation skills through thoughtful interviews and topics, and Soccer Club participants worked hard to improve their form and skills.
Our partnerships with parents, private organizations, and the military community continued to grow stronger through shared goals and collaboration. The Feltwell Hedgehogs Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) and the School Advisory Committee (SAC) helped enhance our learning environment through improved policies, support, and communication. Our work with the School Liaison Office (SLO) strengthened connections with both RAF Lakenheath and RAF Mildenhall. We were also grateful for the support of organizations such as the American Red Cross, the Feltwell Fire Department, the RAF Lakenheath Dental Clinic, and numerous airman volunteers that visited and supported our students throughout the year.
I hope the memories of this school year make you smile. I wish you a safe and happy summer, and I extend my very best wishes to those who will be moving on to new schools. I look forward to welcoming the rest of you back in August as we continue to build relationships and pursue new school goals together.
Respectfully,
Dr. Bernadette Schlueter, Principal
